Shinan-gun Promotes Win-Win Cooperation Between Fishermen and Offshore Wind Power

Appointment Ceremony and Workshop for the Sinan Offshore Wind Power Win-Win Council

[Sinan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] On the 5th, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do held the Sinan Offshore Wind Power Win-Win Council appointment ceremony at Hotel Sono Calm Yeosu, attended by Park Woo-ryang, Sinan-gun Governor, Kim Hyuk-seong, Chairman of Sinan County Council, Kim Jang-su, Chairman of Sinan Fisheries Association, Joo Dong-sik, Director of Green Energy Research Institute, Lee Do-myeong, Chairman of the Sinan Offshore Wind Power Association, representatives of fishermen's organizations, and power company officials.

This win-win council was established based on the "Ordinance on the Promotion of Offshore Wind Power Development and Construction in Sinan-gun" and consists of a total of 21 members, including local government officials, representatives of fishermen's organizations by fishing method, and related experts, to consult with the fishermen's federation.

The council plans to reflect the opinions of fishermen and enhance understanding of the offshore wind power project through discussions on matters related to the operation of special and basic support funds for offshore wind power, discovery of alternative projects and win-win models for fishermen, and compensation measures for fishermen's damages.

Governor Park Woo-ryang said, "Securing the acceptance of fishermen is the most important matter while promoting the offshore wind power project. The win-win council provides a good opportunity to gather fishermen's opinions, and through this, we will seek ways to coexist with fishermen and strive to make the offshore wind power project proceed smoothly."
