[Seoul District News] Yongsan-gu Provides Information on Major Public Youth Facilities (Yongsan Youth Center, Yongsan Youth Culture House, Yongsan Youth Counseling Welfare Center) & Enables One-Stop Registration and Payment for Youth Activities and Lifelong Education Programs... Yangcheon-gu Operates 'Small Business Youth Internship Program' Offering Up to 43.2 Million KRW per Person for 2 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Park Hee-young) has established the integrated youth platform ‘Yongsan e’ and entered a pilot operation phase ahead of its full-scale launch on the 17th.
Yongsan e is an integrated system that gathers information from public youth facilities such as Yongsan Youth Center, Yongsan Youth Culture House, and Yongsan Youth Counseling Welfare Center in one place.
The main screen is composed of ▲Youth Activities ▲Youth Autonomous Organizations ▲Lifelong Education ▲Usage Spaces ▲Community, among others.
Yongsan e can be accessed by directly entering the Yongsan-gu homepage address in the internet address bar or through the Yongsan-gu Facilities Management Corporation homepage (Related Sites → Youth Center).
On Yongsan e, users can search at once for youth activity programs, lifelong learning programs such as educational culture and life sports, and counseling programs operated at each facility.
Starting from the full-scale operation on the 17th, Yongsan Youth Center will provide a one-stop service from application to payment for programs beginning in January. A non-face-to-face qualification verification service linkage function will also be introduced, allowing eligible discount recipients to receive benefits without visiting in person.
The district plans to gradually extend services to other facilities such as Yongsan Youth Culture House in the future.
Users can check information on youth clubs and also apply for membership. New clubs can be newly registered and activities can be conducted. In addition to club activities, information on spaces freely available for youth use is provided, and applications for use are accepted.
The Youth Hope Voice, a subcategory of the community section, is a communication space where youth directly propose and suggest youth policies. The district plans to actively review submitted ideas and reflect them in policies.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “We established Yongsan e to make it easier for youth and parents to use youth facilities,” adding, “We will continue to support youth so that they can confidently grow as members of our society.”
Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Ki-jae) announced that it will operate the ‘2023 Yangcheon-gu Youth Internship Program’ to promote employment for unemployed youth, alleviate manpower shortages in companies, and reduce financial burdens.
The ‘Yangcheon-gu Youth Internship Program’ is a project that matches companies with youth to facilitate employment. It provides youth with stable jobs through a 3-month internship period and regular employment conversion, and offers participating companies opportunities for social contribution activities and securing excellent talent, thereby increasing satisfaction for both parties and creating jobs.
Eligible companies are small and medium-sized enterprises under the ‘Framework Act on Small and Medium Enterprises’ located in Seoul, with five or more regular employees and plans to convert interns to regular employees after the internship period. Eligible youth interns are unemployed individuals aged 15 to 34 residing in Yangcheon-gu as of 2023, with a total of five selected.
The district supports companies hiring youth interns with 90% of the salary per person, up to 1.8 million KRW per month for a maximum of 24 months, totaling 43.2 million KRW. Youth receive an incentive of 2.5 million KRW quarterly, totaling 10 million KRW for two years of work. Since 2012, the district has facilitated employment for 53 youth and 47 companies, contributing to easing the employment crisis.
Company recruitment is open until December 30, and youth recruitment until January 13 of next year. Selected youth through company interviews will start working from March 2 next year.
Companies or unemployed youth wishing to participate in the Yangcheon-gu Youth Internship Program can find detailed information on the district office website’s notice section.
Lee Ki-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “The youth internship program, which ensures employment stability and reduces financial burdens, is a great opportunity to strengthen ties between youth and the local community. We hope for much interest and participation, and will continue to operate substantial employment support programs to provide practical jobs for residents.”
