[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulsan City will provide 500,000 KRW per newborn as postpartum care expenses to all families with newborns regardless of income level starting in 2023.
The program applies to babies born on or after January 1, 2023, and the eligibility requirement is that either the father or mother must have been continuously registered as a resident in Ulsan City for at least one month prior to the newborn's birth date.
The application period is within three months from the date of birth registration.
Applicants or their representatives must prepare an ID card, one copy of the resident registration certificate or abstract, and one copy of the family relationship certificate, and apply in person at the administrative welfare center of their local eup, myeon, or dong.
The postpartum care expenses can be used for postpartum care center services, health management for the mother and newborn, nutritional supplements, massages, herbal medicine prescriptions, and other necessary services for the mother.
A city official stated, "By supporting postpartum care expenses, we aim to reduce the financial burden on families with newborns and create a favorable environment for childbirth, contributing to overcoming low birth rates."
