SBC, Improving Work Methods with RFID Inventory Management System

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Small Enterprise and Market Service announced on the 6th that it has improved its working methods by introducing an electronic tag (RFID) inventory management system for efficient asset management.

The RFID inventory management system stores item information in electronic tags composed of antennas and chips, and processes the information by recognizing it with a reader.

The existing inventory survey method of the Small Enterprise and Market Service involved manually cross-checking the inventory ledger and asset labels to confirm the possession of items. This method required considerable time and manpower and caused inconvenience due to multiple reviews needed because of data entry errors and omissions.

Accordingly, the Small Enterprise and Market Service conducted an inventory survey on about 22,000 assets held at a total of 110 offices, including the headquarters, 7 regional headquarters, 77 regional centers, and training centers, starting from the 22nd of last month using the electronic tag inventory management system.

The survey period was drastically reduced from 36 days to 10 days, and transparency was also enhanced due to improved work efficiency and accurate surveys by employees.

Additionally, idle assets identified in the survey will be exchanged, and PCs and other equipment that have exceeded their useful life and are difficult to use will be repaired and donated to information-disadvantaged groups, promoting budget savings and resource circulation.

Park Seonghyo, Director of the Small Enterprise and Market Service, said, “In line with the public institution innovation, which is part of the national agenda, we improved asset management efficiency and saved budget by managing assets using RFID. We will continue to contribute to the development of the Service and local communities through ongoing improvements in work methods.”
