Support of 60,000 KRW Each for 600 Vulnerable Elderly-Headed Households
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, provided 60,000 KRW in heating expenses in cash per household to 600 elderly-headed households in the area, including elderly living alone, elderly couples, and grandparent-grandchild families, who are experiencing difficulties due to economic recession and cold waves.
The households receiving heating expense support are vulnerable households that received the first round of cooling expense support in early July this year to prepare for the summer heatwave. With this heating expense support, they will receive a total of 90,000 KRW annually for cooling and heating expenses.
A county official said, "As the COVID-19 situation continues, with high prices and colder weather, we have provided heating expenses so that elderly people facing difficulties in the region can spend a warm winter."
Namhae-gun is supporting a warm winter for the elderly by providing heating expenses not only to vulnerable elderly households in preparation for the winter cold wave but also to local senior centers, which serve as rest areas and neighborhood leisure activity hubs, and communal living facilities for elderly living alone.
