Gwangju University Holds 10th Anniversary Ceremony for ROTC Unit Establishment

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju University (President Kim Dongjin) announced on the 5th that it held a commemorative ceremony and Homuje event at the Baekin Hall on campus on the 2nd to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) unit.

This event was organized to share the achievements of the Gwangju University ROTC unit over the past 10 years and its future vision, as well as to boost the morale and foster unity among the cadets.

Established in December 2012, the Gwangju University ROTC unit has produced a total of about 190 commissioned officers to date. In particular, it has received excellent evaluations in various external assessments, including being selected as the overall outstanding ROTC unit during the 2022 summer training of ROTC cadets.

The Homuje event held alongside the 10th anniversary ceremony included viewing videos of cadet activities, congratulatory videos from parents and alumni seniors, and talent shows.

There was also a session where the alumni association selected outstanding cadets and awarded scholarships.

President Kim Dongjin emphasized, “The ROTC unit is active as core talents contributing to the development of the Republic of Korea across various sectors of society, elevating the honor of Gwangju University. I will always take the lead with a proactive communication and responsible attitude, engraving your sweat and honor in my heart.”
