Hampyeong-gun Operates Nuisance Wildlife Damage Prevention Team

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong-gun, Jeonnam announced on the 5th that it will officially operate the ‘2022 Winter Season Nuisance Wildlife Damage Prevention Team’ from this month until March next year.


The nuisance wildlife damage prevention team is operated to prevent damage to crops and human life caused by nuisance wildlife such as wild boars and water deer, and to respond to the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF).


The county selected 29 members for the damage prevention team through a recruitment announcement last month and has completed all capture operation procedures and safety training.


The damage prevention team will respond on-site to capture wild animals when residents who have suffered damage to crops or other property from nuisance wildlife report to the town or township office.


In addition, to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF), activities such as capturing wild boars, monitoring carcasses, poaching surveillance, and rescuing injured animals will also be conducted.


A county official said, “Through the operation of the nuisance wildlife damage prevention team, we will do our best to protect the safety and property of residents by preventing winter crop damage and the spread of African Swine Fever.”


Meanwhile, Hampyeong-gun operated the ‘Harvest Season Nuisance Wildlife Damage Prevention Team’ from May to November and achieved results by capturing 47 wild boars and 138 water deer.
