Wando-gun Invites Submissions for '2023 New Year's Theme Four-Character Idiom' Until the 15th

[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, is holding a contest for a four-character idiom as the New Year's theme for the year 2023, the Year of the Water Rabbit (Gyemyo-nyeon, 癸卯年).

The contest is open to all Wando residents (registered residents of Wando-gun), and each person can propose one four-character idiom that carries the meaning of "achieving Wando's development based on the achievements made together as one."

The submission period is until the 15th of this month. Among the proposals received, the County Administration Adjustment Committee will review and decide the winners: one grand prize (with a prize of 500,000 KRW) and three excellence awards (each with a prize of 100,000 KRW). The awards will be presented in January next year.

This New Year's theme contest is being promoted with the purpose of pledging a greater leap forward in the new year based on the results achieved together by the county and its residents, such as attracting the National Maritime Fisheries Museum, establishing the National Subtropical Arboretum, constructing the second phase of the Gwangju-Wando expressway, and hosting the Jeollanam-do Sports Festival.

Wando County Governor Shin Woo-cheol stated, "In 2023, through the New Year's theme proposed directly by the residents, we will draw a blueprint for the county's development with administration that resonates with and involves the residents."

Meanwhile, the county selected Ilnyeomtongcheon (一念通天) as the New Year's theme in 2022, Yujigyeongseong (有志竟成) in 2021, and Ungbidoyak (雄飛跳躍) in 2020.
