[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Korea Tourism Organization is conducting an error reporting event to identify incorrect information on public institution foreign language tourism information websites.
On the 5th, the Tourism Organization announced that it will hold an error reporting event to further improve the accuracy of Korean tourism information provided in foreign languages (English, Chinese, Japanese, etc.) by public institutions such as local governments and Regional Tourism Organizations (RTOs). The event started on November 28 and will accept submissions until the 26th.
Participants can report foreign language typos, misspellings, or incorrect information found in travel-related content by registering them on the event page within the Korea Tourism Organization's official website, Korea Travel Easy.
The organization will review the reported content through expert translation and verification before forwarding it to the relevant institutions to encourage prompt corrections.
Anyone interested in Korean tourism, both domestic and international, can participate. The addresses of public institution websites to be checked are posted under ‘Check Website Examples’ on the event page. Participants will be entered into a draw to win prizes including one tablet PC, one wireless earphone set, and 50 chicken sets, totaling 202 winners. Finding errors on websites other than those listed or submitting multiple reports will increase the chances of winning.
The Korea Tourism Organization provides free translation and proofreading services for foreign language tourism signage and publications to local governments, public institutions, and tourism-related industries nationwide.
Additionally, centered in Seoul, the organization is conducting various projects to improve foreign language guidance systems, including on-site monitoring of foreign language signs, notices, and promotional materials in five key tourism hub cities.
