[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Pulmuone Food & Culture, a lifestyle service company under Pulmuone, announced on the 5th that it will introduce an "Meal Count Prediction System," where artificial intelligence recommends the number of meals, to its catering sites by analyzing big data on meal usage patterns over the past three years.

With the introduction of the meal count prediction system, Pulmuone plans to provide catering sites with meal count predictions similar to the judgment level of experienced on-site managers (nutritionists) by utilizing big data and artificial intelligence. Pulmuone expects that this system will minimize environmental costs caused by leftover food and food material waste, and prevent menu shortages in advance, thereby increasing consumer satisfaction with catering services.

The meal count prediction system introduced by Pulmuone allows on-site managers to select and input the menus for each meal to be served the following week into the system. Based on past empirical data, the AI predicts the recommended meal count and suggests it to the on-site managers. The managers then consider the AI's recommended meal count to order ingredients and decide the actual number of meals to be prepared on site.

Currently, Pulmuone operates the meal count prediction system at three large catering sites. The company plans to implement this system at about 100 Food & Culture catering sites by 2026.

Lee Woo-bong, CEO of Pulmuone Food & Culture, said, "The introduction of this meal count prediction system is very meaningful not only in reducing social and environmental costs but also in improving the work efficiency of on-site managers and enhancing catering satisfaction." He added, "By increasing customer satisfaction through data-based meal count prediction, we will accelerate digital transformation not only in the catering business but also across the entire food service sector."
