Gyeongbuk Office of Education Opens 'Saengmyeong Sarang Dongbukbu Center'... Emotional Crisis Students Receive Mental Care Opening Ceremony of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education Life Love Northeast Center.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] The ‘Gyeongbuk Office of Education Life Love Northeast Center,’ which helps students in crisis who are experiencing difficulties, has opened its doors.

On the 5th, the Gyeongbuk Office of Education announced, “To protect the precious lives of children, the ‘Gyeongbuk Office of Education Life Love Northeast Center’ held its opening ceremony on the 2nd in Indeok-dong, Nam-gu, Pohang City.”

The ‘Gyeongbuk Office of Education Life Love Center’ is entrusted to Yeungnam University Medical Center and established as a system for immediate and professional intervention targeting students in crisis who are experiencing psychological and emotional difficulties through visits by mental health specialists tailored to the regional characteristics of Gyeongbuk.

Here, the Life Love project is carried out for students in the Gyeongbuk area who have difficulties in emotional and behavioral adjustment, high-risk groups who have attempted extreme self-harm or suicide, and students of interest who are not linked to specialized institutions.

The newly opened Life Love Northeast Center consists of a team of mental health professionals including adolescent psychiatry specialists, clinical psychologists, social workers, and professional counselors, divided into three areas: prevention team, education team, and research team, performing tasks based on medical expertise.

The main projects consist of the ‘Student Visit Management Project,’ which includes in-depth assessments, case meetings led by mental health specialists, and linkage and support to specialized student institutions (services), and the ‘School Visit Support Project,’ which provides consultation and education for teachers and guardians, as well as school consulting and education.

Gong Hyun-joo, head of the Student Life Division at the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, said, “Through customized visit support and consulting for students experiencing psychological and emotional difficulties, we will detect mental health issues early and provide support to care for students’ mental health so that they can enjoy a happy school life.”
