President Yoon's Approval Rating Rises 2.5 Percentage Points to 38.9%

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration has risen for two consecutive weeks, entering the high 30% range.
According to a public opinion poll released on the 5th by Realmeter (conducted by Media Tribune from the 28th of last month to the 2nd of this month, targeting 2,507 voters aged 18 and over nationwide using an automated response method), President Yoon's approval rating increased by 2.5 percentage points from the previous week's survey to 38.9%. Negative evaluations dropped by 1.9 percentage points to 58.9%.
Looking at the daily approval rating trend released by Realmeter, President Yoon's approval rating showed a gradual upward trend, rising more in the latter half of the week than in the early part. In the previous regular survey, his approval rating was 36.8% on the last day (the 25th of last month), and it rose to 39.7% (daily) on the 2nd.
By region, approval ratings rose by 5.9 percentage points in Daegu·Gyeongbuk (44.8%→50.7%), 5.5 percentage points in Seoul (38.9%→44.4%), and 2.7 percentage points in Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (41.1%→43.8%). By age group, the 20s increased by 4.7 percentage points (30.3%→35.0%) and the 50s by 3.8 percentage points (31.7%→35.5%).
By ideological inclination, the conservative group rose by 4.5 percentage points (60.1%→64.6%) and the moderate group by 2.3 percentage points (34.8%→37.1%).
However, except for Daegu·Gyeongbuk (approval rating 50.7%) and those aged 70 and over (approval rating 51.4%), in all other regions and age groups, negative opinions outweighed positive ones.
In party support, the Democratic Party of Korea rose by 0.5 percentage points to 46.0%, and the People Power Party increased by 2.0 percentage points to 38.8%. As a result, the gap between the two parties' support narrowed from 8.7 percentage points to 7.2 percentage points.
