[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The ruling party has taken a tough stance against the Cargo Solidarity currently conducting a general strike, stating, "We must no longer allow illegal violent strikes that ruin the national economy."

Jang Dong-hyeok, the floor spokesperson for the People Power Party, said in a statement on the 4th, "The Cargo Solidarity strike has exceeded ten days. Logistics are blocked everywhere, and the damage is growing like a snowball, yet the Cargo Solidarity continues to sever the arteries of logistics here and there."

He continued, "The Cargo Solidarity is going a step further by ordering the Democratic Party to pass the Yellow Envelope Act, which would justify their illegal violent strike."

Spokesperson Jang emphasized that allowing illegal violent strikes means there is no future for the Republic of Korea, stating, "Right now, South Korea cannot afford to let militant aristocratic unions eat away at the economy."

He added, "Leaving militant aristocratic unions unchecked is tantamount to giving up on South Korea's future," and said, "The government must issue additional work commencement orders if necessary and use this opportunity to decisively end the illegal violent strikes by militant aristocratic unions."

He also said, "The legitimate three labor rights must be guaranteed. At the same time, illegal strikes must be eradicated," adding, "Even if you put illegality inside a yellow envelope and label it as legal on the outside, illegality remains illegality."

He concluded, "No matter how much the Cargo Solidarity threatens with illegal strikes, this time neither the government nor the people will yield to such intimidation."
