[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] LG Uplus announced on the 4th that it will premiere the latest drama series from the global content provider 'Paramount Global' for the first time in Korea through its IPTV and Mobile TV services.
The newly released content includes three titles: 'CSI: Vegas Season 2', 'NCIS: Hawaii Season 2', and 'FBI: International Season 2'. These new series are available to U+tv users who subscribe to the 'Premium Plan' costing 15,400 KRW per month or higher, or U+ Mobile TV users subscribed to either the 'Basic Monthly Subscription' or the 'Movie Monthly Subscription'.
Along with the new drama series, LG Uplus will also newly offer content such as 'FBI Season 4', which gained significant popularity after its local release last year, and the series 'NCIS: New Orleans Seasons 1 to 7', which has a large fanbase, through U+tv and U+ Mobile TV.
LG Uplus explained that it decided to acquire the latest overseas drama series to strengthen its media platform competitiveness.
LG Uplus plans to provide Paramount's drama video-on-demand (VOD) titles in the future, including 'FBI: Most Wanted Season 3' starring Dylan McDermott and Alexa Davalos, and 'NCIS Season 19' starring Mark Harmon and Gary Cole. With this, the number of Paramount series offered by LG Uplus is expected to exceed 1,500 episodes.
To celebrate the provision of Paramount's latest drama series, an event will be held offering travel vouchers worth up to 2 million KRW as prizes. This event targets customers who choose one of the three new Paramount titles and binge-watch all uploaded content by March 2 of next year. Winners will be announced on March 13 on the U+tv and U+ Mobile TV notice boards.
Lee Geonyeong, Head of Media Services at LG Uplus, stated, "Following October last year, we are providing VOD content even before the season 2 finishes airing in the US for customers eagerly awaiting it," and added, "We will continue to schedule the latest popular overseas dramas so that U+tv and U+ Mobile TV can become the fastest platforms to access American dramas."
