[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] On the 3rd, the Democratic Party of Korea criticized the arrest of former Blue House National Security Office Director Suh Hoon in connection with the 'West Sea Public Official Shooting Incident,' stating, "The politically motivated investigation, with conclusions predetermined to suit the regime's taste, will ultimately be judged in court."

Spokesperson Lim Okyung said in a written briefing that "there is no changed information or circumstances different from the judgment at the time of the (Moon Jae-in administration's Blue House), but as the government changed, the judgment was completely reversed and the truth is said to have been concealed."

Spokesperson Lim also rebutted the court's reason for issuing the warrant citing 'evidence destruction,' saying, "All materials are in the hands of the Yoon Suk-yeol government, so to claim evidence destruction is absurd."

Regarding the October press conference held by former security chiefs of the Moon Jae-in administration, including former Director Suh, which became the basis for the 'evidence destruction' judgment, Lim said, "It was a public press conference to assert their innocence; does this deny their right to defense?"

Meanwhile, Representative Yoon Geon-young, who served as the Blue House National Situation Room Chief during the Moon Jae-in administration, also posted on social media criticizing the arrest of former Director Suh.

Representative Yoon said, "Former Director Suh voluntarily returned to Korea from the United States to undergo prosecution," and asked, "What evidence is he supposed to have destroyed?"

He continued, "If it was a 'forced defection' claim, wouldn't there at least need to be an explanation as to why the deceased public official was found in North Korean waters?" and pointed out, "There is absolutely no basis for the repeated 'forced defection' claims like a parrot."
