[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Jo] Three members of the Cargo Solidarity Headquarters of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) Public Transport Workers' Union, who threw steel balls at non-union cargo trucks that did not participate in the strike at Busan New Port, were arrested by the police.

The National Police Agency announced on the 2nd that arrest warrants for Mr. A and two others were executed at the Cargo Solidarity Gimhae Branch office. The police plan to detain and investigate Mr. A and the others at the Busan Gangseo Police Station.

Mr. A and the others are suspected of obstructing business by throwing steel balls at non-union cargo trucks near Busan New Port on the 26th of last month. The steel balls they threw damaged the front windshield of a vehicle, and one driver reportedly sustained a neck injury from broken glass fragments.

Earlier, on the 29th of last month, the police conducted a search and seizure related to this case at the Busan Port New Port rally site, the Cargo Solidarity broadcast vehicle, and the Gimhae branch, securing additional steel balls. The police are also reported to have obtained CCTV footage showing Mr. A and others inside a vehicle near the affected cargo trucks.

A police official stated, "We will continue to respond according to law and principles to illegal acts caused by collective transport refusal," adding, "We will thoroughly investigate and strictly prosecute retaliatory acts against those returning to work and non-union members."
