[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Homeplus announced on the 2nd that it won the grand prize with the best performance among a total of 128 participating business sites at the 'Electric Energy Saving Competition' hosted by the Korea Electrical Association.


The Electric Energy Saving Competition, hosted by the Korea Electrical Association, organized by the Korea Women Consumers Association, and sponsored by Korea Electric Power Corporation, is an event that awards companies, organizations, schools, and buildings that saved the most electric energy during the summer peak period (July to September) this year. The competition evaluates the summer electric energy saving rate and amount compared to the past three years (2018~same period), as well as excellent practice cases, and awards a total prize of 45 million KRW.


Among the total 128 participating business sites in this competition, Homeplus, which won the 'Grand Prize' for the best electric energy saving performance, received a certificate of excellence for electric energy saving and a prize of 10 million KRW at the awards ceremony held on the 1st at the InterContinental Seoul COEX Harmony Ballroom in Samseong-dong, Seoul.


Homeplus participated with a total of 12 stores including Hapjeong, Gangdong, Sangbong, Namhyeon, Incheon Cheongna, Dong Suwon, Buk Suwon, Hyangnam, Gimpo, Osan, Pyeongtaek Anjung, and Ulsan Dong-gu, and was recognized for significantly reducing power consumption among the participating business sites through efforts such as replacing in-store lighting with LED.


Shin Gunho, Executive Director of External Policy at Homeplus, said, "We are pleased that Homeplus's efforts to lead energy saving, such as replacing store lighting with energy-efficient equipment like LED, have borne fruit," and added, "We plan to continue leading management practices for energy saving by consistently participating in the Energy Day lights-off event at all stores nationwide."
