[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju announced on the 1st that it will hold the "2nd Children's Policy Proposal Contest" on the 7th at the 3rd floor meeting room of Buk-gu Office, with about 100 children participating from 8 institutions and organizations including the Buk-gu Children's Policy Participation Group, Children's Rights Monitoring Group, and Child-Friendly Specialized Village Participation Group.

Now in its second year, the Children's Policy Proposal Contest is being promoted together with Ilgok Youth Culture House (Director Kim Cheolhyun) under the slogan "Let Your Voice Be Heard, Gwangju Buk-gu Where Children Are Respected," aiming to expand children's participation rights and discover policies that meet their perspectives.

On the day of the contest, children will directly present various proposals such as ▲installation of an adventure playground alive with biodiversity ▲installation of a forest playground (experience center) ▲creation of a creative playground ▲installation of a children-only suggestion box ▲creation of flower paths on the way to school ▲activation of climate and environmental education and establishment of regional experiential spaces.

After evaluation by the judging panel, 7 teams will be awarded including 1 grand prize, 2 excellence awards, and 4 encouragement awards, and excellent proposals will be actively reflected in district administration after review by relevant departments.

District Mayor Moon In said, "We will actively strive to ensure that the diverse voices of children are reflected in district administration through the Children's Policy Proposal Contest," adding, "We will discover and promote various children's policies to create a city where all children can be happy."

Meanwhile, Buk-gu received UNICEF Child-Friendly City certification from the UNICEF Korea Committee in February this year and is currently creating and operating facilities such as the Dream Tree indoor playground proposed by children, remodeling of Yongbong Children's Park, and the Green Road, a safe path for children.
