Hampyeong-gun Presents Blueprint for Regional Customized Food Comprehensive Plan

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County is drawing attention as it embarks on establishing a comprehensive food plan to provide residents with healthy and safe food.

According to the county on the 1st, a result briefing session for the 'Comprehensive Food Plan (Food Plan) Establishment Research Project' was held that morning in the small conference room of the county office.

The 'Food Plan' is a comprehensive plan that manages all stages of food production, processing, distribution, and consumption as a virtuous cycle system, aiming to supply safe food and increase the income of farmers and fishermen.

This research project presented 16 major action tasks, including four core food strategies for Hampyeong County: ▲creating related markets ▲establishing a planned production system ▲establishing a public operation system ▲activating governance, under the vision of "Healthy Citizens, Sustainable Agriculture, Food Circulation City Hampyeong."

The county plans to revise ordinances related to food projects within the year and actively apply for national subsidy projects to secure budgets for establishing a food virtuous cycle system, including the establishment of the Hampyeong Food Integrated Support Center.

County Governor Lee Sang-ik said, "We plan to completely reorganize the Hampyeong-type food management system for future generations," adding, "We will comprehensively establish the Hampyeong County food support system to promote residents' health and increase farmers' income."

Meanwhile, starting with Governor Lee Sang-ik's visit to the Wanju Public Food Support Center in Jeollabuk-do last October, Hampyeong County has been working to build a consensus between the public and private sectors for establishing a comprehensive food plan by forming the Hampyeong Food Council with local farms, promoting advanced site visits, and visiting the Hampyeong County Council.
