The 3rd Plenary Session on the 12th to Finalize Next Year's Budget Proposal After Review
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Jinju City Council in Gyeongnam held the second plenary session of the 243rd 2nd regular meeting on the 1st and processed major agenda items including the 3rd supplementary budget proposal submitted by Jinju City.
With the approval of the 3rd supplementary budget proposal, the general account increased by 1,041.82 million KRW and the special account by 3.24 million KRW, bringing the total city budget to 2,219.43738 billion KRW.
According to the report on the review results by the Budget and Accounts Special Committee, the expenditure budget was approved with modifications, with a reduction of 30 million KRW in the general account.
In addition to the supplementary budget proposal, a total of 33 items including 24 ordinances and regulations and 7 consent items, which had completed preliminary review by standing committees from November 21 to 28, were submitted and collectively processed at the plenary session.
The city council, which has only the approval of next year’s main budget proposal left among the agenda items of this regular meeting, will conduct preliminary budget reviews by standing committees from the 1st to the 6th, and the main review by the Budget and Accounts Special Committee from the 7th to the 9th.
The 2023 Jinju City budget will be finalized once the main budget proposal is finally approved at the 3rd plenary session on the 12th.
Council members Jeon Jong-hyun, Seo Jeong-in, and Park Mi-kyung delivered 5-minute free speeches presenting timely city administration improvement measures.
Council member Jeon advocated for “introducing traffic lights with red remaining time display to respond to pedestrian accidents during vulnerable crossings in the region.”
Council member Seo proposed “introducing Japan’s ‘DJ Police’ and the public warning system (MWS) as a disaster safety response capacity enhancement model.”
Council member Park requested the city to “apply an unmanned parking system that allows smartphone payment to on-street public parking lots in the district to improve the parking environment.”
