Active Support for Promising Startups and Small to Medium Enterprises

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] Hoban Group is actively supporting promising startups and small and medium-sized enterprises through technology contests again this year.
Hoban Group announced on the 1st that it held the final judging and awards ceremony for the ‘2022 Hoban Innovation Technology Contest’ at Chosun Palace Gangnam on the 30th of last month. About 80 related personnel attended the event, including Hoban Group Chairman Seon-gyu Kim, Hoban Group Chief Planning Officer Daheon Kim, Seoul Business Agency CEO Hyunwoo Kim, Electronic Times President Seungwook Yang, and team leaders from Hoban Construction who participated in the judging.
Seoul Mayor Seohun Oh sent a congratulatory message saying, “I hope the open innovation collaboration achievements between Hoban Group and startups will become a driving force and an opportunity for mutual growth.”
At the final judging of the 2022 Hoban Innovation Technology Contest, presentations were made by eight excellent companies possessing advanced technologies, and prize money and commercialization support totaling 250 million KRW will be awarded to the winning companies including the grand prize. This contest was co-hosted by Hoban Group and the Seoul Business Agency.
The Hoban Innovation Technology Contest has expanded its themes and participating companies year by year. This year’s contest themes were mainly construction new technologies and industrial convergence. It solicited future new technologies related to various Hoban Group businesses such as inter-floor noise reduction, safety management, customer management, spatial information and promotional content, IoT/AI-based services, curating, and smart factories. A total of 187 companies participated in this contest, and after document screening, technical evaluation, and face-to-face judging, eight companies advanced to the final judging.
The prestigious grand prize of the 2022 Hoban Innovation Technology Contest was awarded to Hujekt. Hujekt proposed ‘Utilizing energy harvesting for landscaping and safety improvement within apartment complexes.’ Energy harvesting is a technology that collects energy wasted in daily life and converts and uses it as electrical energy.
In addition, △ the excellence award went to Difon (transparent/opaque switching smart furniture and windows), Teamwork Co., Ltd. (AI-based construction management collaboration solution based on design documents) △ the merit award went to MOBINN (obstacle-overcoming autonomous driving robot), Colly Technology (ultra-precise GPS-based AI robot caddy) △ the encouragement award went to Rapique (food by-product cosmetic raw materialization using zero-waste upcycling platform), Blue Capsule (metaverse model house platform) △ the special award went to Nable Communications (smart curing and worker safety management system), totaling eight companies were named as awardees.
Hoban Group Chairman Seon-gyu Kim said in his opening remarks, “I am honored to co-host the ‘2022 Hoban Innovation Technology Contest’ with the Seoul Business Agency, which leads the revitalization of Seoul’s economy,” and added, “As Hoban Group has cooperated with past winning companies, we will be a reliable partner with the Seoul Business Agency to help the innovative companies awarded in this contest to leap forward.”
