Ulsan City Sets Next Year's Living Wage at 10,936 KRW per Hour... Applied to Ulsan City and Public Institution Contract and Temporary Workers Ulsan City Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City has finalized the living wage for next year at an hourly rate of 10,936 KRW.


On the 24th, Ulsan City held a Living Wage Committee meeting and announced the hourly living wage for next year to be applied to public workers and fixed-term employees affiliated with Ulsan City, as well as public corporations, industrial complexes, and investment and contribution institutions under the city.


The confirmed hourly wage is 2,285,624 KRW based on 209 hours per month. It is a real wage supplementing the shortcomings of the minimum wage, determined to improve workers' quality of life by considering the median income of a single-person household nationwide and the income level of workers in Ulsan compared to other metropolitan cities.


The target group includes 1,889 public workers and fixed-term employees affiliated with Ulsan City and its public institutions.

An official from Ulsan City stated, “The decision was made considering the city's financial capacity and aiming to ensure workers' livelihood stability and improve their quality of life beyond the minimum wage.”
