[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Shinsegae Central City announced on the 1st that it will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Seoul City to create jobs for Seoul youth and to develop and promote youth policies.

Through this agreement, Shinsegae Central City plans to cooperate to provide multifaceted support such as strengthening Seoul youth entrepreneurship capabilities, education, and youth community activities by utilizing the infrastructure owned by Shinsegae Central City and youth spaces operated by Seoul City.

Shinsegae Central City will conduct practical cafe training such as coffee bean roasting and coffee drip at ‘City Roastery’ for aspiring cafe entrepreneurs through the Seoul City Youth Startup Support Center. Afterwards, mentoring from senior entrepreneurs and one-day field practice training at the ‘Youth Coffee Lab’ will also be provided.

In addition, the Seoul Youth Festival will be held regularly. Starting next year, the Seoul City Youth Policy Expo, performances by young artists, and event activities will take place at Shinsegae Central City. Shinsegae Central City will support performance spaces and equipment.

Furthermore, the two organizations will continue to discover and expand projects that can effectively enhance experiential policy support for Seoul youth through regular practical cooperation meetings.

Park Juhyung, CEO of Shinsegae Central City, said, “This agreement is expected to be an opportunity to further expand the youth support projects that Shinsegae Central City has been supporting.” He added, “We hope that the support system established through the cooperation of Shinsegae Central City’s practical startup support and Seoul City’s policy support infrastructure will become a model case of public-private cooperation supporting jobs for youth, who are the main agents shaping the future of Seoul.”
