[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hee-jun] North Korea is encouraging expeditions to Baekdusan Mountain amid severe cold weather around minus 30 degrees Celsius. This is interpreted as an effort to prevent ideological relaxation among residents and to promote mental armament. In particular, North Korea symbolizes this ideological education with the term 'Baekdusan University.'

The Workers' Party organ, Rodong Sinmun, stated on the front page on the 30th under the headline "Let's Go to Baekdusan," "A meaningful call that reveals how bold courage and steadfast faith multiply a hundredfold is echoing across this land," adding, "With this call, the entire country is heading toward the revolutionary sacred mountain, Baekdusan."

It further emphasized, "The path to Baekdusan is a path that provides invaluable spiritual nourishment incomparable to the power of any nuclear weapon, a path that illuminates Baekdu's revolutionary tradition, and a path that steadfastly continues the glorious lifeline of the Korean revolution, as stated by the respected General Secretary, whose words strike our hearts strongly."

It also stressed, "Truly, the path to Baekdusan is the path of following the respected General Secretary," and "The core of the Baekdusan spirit is none other than the spirit of resolutely defending the leader," urging absolute loyalty to Kim Jong-un, the General Secretary of the Workers' Party.

Additionally, it highlighted that "(Kim Jong-un) rode a military horse three years ago, vigorously traversing the Baekdu land and warmly embracing the blood-stained history of the partisans," marking the third anniversary of Kim Jong-un's visit on November 30, 2019, when he rode a white horse to tour the revolutionary sites in the Baekdusan area.

Baekdusan is claimed to be the symbol of Chairman Kim Il-sung's anti-Japanese struggle and the location of the so-called 'Baekdusan secret camp,' the hometown of Kim Jong-il, the former National Defense Commission Chairman. Since Kim Jong-un's so-called 'Baekdusan military horse ascent' three years ago, North Korea has been encouraging people from all walks of life to visit the Baekdusan revolutionary sites.
