[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 30th that it has conducted executive appointments for CEOs and presidents in 2022 to enable agile responses and continuous performance creation amid the rapidly changing global business environment.


This appointment focuses on strengthening crisis response capabilities in preparation for prolonged uncertainty in the global business environment, selecting key talents based on performance to secure future business competitiveness, and establishing a new control tower for future mobility strategy.


Hyundai Motor Group CCO Luke Dongkervolke was promoted to president. President Luke Dongkervolke clearly established the identity and direction of Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Genesis brands through presenting advanced and concept designs.


Recently, he has directed and led the execution of various creative projects of Hyundai Motor Group, including Genesis House New York. He is also leading customer experience design linked to future mobility such as AAM (Advanced Air Mobility).


As Hyundai Motor Group’s CCO, President Luke Dongkervolke will continue to lead brand communication based on creative content by strengthening the brand identity of Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Genesis.

Hyundai Glovis appointed Executive Director Lee Gyubok of Hyundai Motor’s Process Innovation Division, who has diverse experience in finance, overseas sales, and process innovation, as its new CEO with a promotion to vice president.


Vice President Lee Gyubok, an expert in finance and overseas sales-based strategic planning with experience as head of the European sales corporation and CFO of the North American production corporation, laid the foundation for a profitability-centered overseas regional management system. Recently, he was responsible for innovation across processes for Hyundai Motor Group’s sustainable future growth.


Based on his high understanding of the group overall and the market, as well as his outstanding global capabilities, Vice President Lee Gyubok is expected to lead Hyundai Glovis’s leap to a global smart logistics company by creating group-level synergies and accelerating the execution of future new business strategies.


Hyundai Motor Group decided to establish the GSO to accelerate the transition to a future mobility group by strengthening connections among the group’s core businesses. The personnel and detailed roles of each division within the GSO will be decided in December.


The GSO will serve as the control tower organization for Hyundai Motor Group’s future mobility sector, responsible for establishing future strategic directions and internal and external collaboration and commercialization verification from the perspectives of ▲software (SW) ▲hardware (HW) ▲mobility services. In particular, it plans to create a unified decision-making body composed of experts in each field to lead swift and consistent strategy execution.


Meanwhile, President Gong Youngwoon, in charge of strategic planning, President Ji Youngjo, in charge of innovation, and Hyundai Glovis CEO Kim Junghoon will step down from frontline roles and take on advisory positions.


A Hyundai Motor Group official said, “This appointment is a CEO and president-level personnel change to prepare for proactive New Year management plans and a stable management environment,” adding, “Through the regular executive appointments scheduled for December, Hyundai Motor Group will continue performance-based personnel renewal to prepare for the future.”
