Cartoonists Change the World to a Safer Place... KOSHA Reveals 6 Award-Winning Webtoons of Stories and Emotions

Cartoonists Change the World to a Safer Place... KOSHA Reveals 6 Award-Winning Webtoons of Stories and Emotions Webtoon Contest Grand Prize Winner.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency under the Ministry of Employment and Labor has unveiled the outstanding works of the 2022 Industrial Safety Webtoon Contest, "Webtoons That Change the World."

The webtoons can be enjoyed for free on the agency’s official website and blog, the webtoon contest’s official homepage, and the "Modu-ui Toon" platform.

The released works are the award-winning entries from this year’s inaugural webtoon contest aimed at raising social awareness about industrial accident prevention and enhancing safety consciousness through webtoon content. Out of a total of 35 submissions, experts selected six works.

CJ ENM is considering adapting the outstanding works into videos, and if a second phase project is decided, support will be provided through the Seoul Business Agency’s webtoon sector SME network.

Among the six released industrial safety webtoons, the grand prize winner, "Safe Point," tells the story of the protagonist "Safety Helmet," who has the supernatural ability to sense anxiety. It expresses safety issues that are easily overlooked at construction sites through the medium of "Safe Point."

The excellence award winner, "God of Industrial Accidents," depicts the posthumous judgment of three people who died from related industrial accidents at the same construction site. Through each of their stories, it reminds us of the importance of safety and warns against safety negligence.

"Life Screening" is a story that screens the lives of three people after their deaths as a movie, prompting us to reconsider what we must protect through the stories of two bosses who failed to ensure site safety and one worker who saved lives.

The excellence award winners "K’s Right Hand" and "Traces of Summer" are based on true stories around the authors, while "Dad, Did You Come Home?" portrays a plausible event from everyday life in a calm and touching narrative.

Director Ahn Jong-joo of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency said, “I hope this contest will help change the world as intended,” and added, “We will continue to carry out various activities to prevent industrial accidents and encourage public interest.”
