[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] YIDO Co., Ltd., an eco-friendly specialized company and the only Value-UP platform specialist in Korea, has stepped up as an environmental guardian of Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park.
YIDO announced on the 29th that it conducted biodiversity education and ecosystem conservation activities twice at Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park in collaboration with WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), the world's largest non-profit international nature conservation organization.
This environmental volunteer activity was held as part of YIDO’s ‘ECO Campaign,’ an initiative by the eco-friendly company to practice ESG management, with 50 employees and WWF officials participating.
During the ‘ECO Campaign,’ YIDO employees dug up young willows near the embankment of Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park and transplanted them into pots. These young willows are nurtured in pots for about two years before being relocated to necessary areas within Yeouido Saetgang Park to help maintain the park’s ecosystem.
Additionally, they collected fallen trees and discarded branches in the Saetgang caused by summer typhoons and used them to create biotopes that serve as winter habitats for insects and birds. The biotope creation activity also helps reduce environmental issues by decreasing the incineration of discarded wood.
Currently, YIDO is a leading eco-friendly company in Korea, having established a waste treatment value chain that includes intermediate collection, recycling, incineration, and landfill of waste in the southwestern region of Korea, including the clean area of Jeju. Through operating eight environmental business sites, it processes approximately 3.4 million tons of waste annually. Recently, it also obtained the country’s first patent for ‘flammable recovery and resource technology for construction mixed waste.’
So far, YIDO has engaged in social contribution activities for environmental conservation, such as donating funds to WWF and the international environmental conservation organization W Foundation, participating in resolving the Uiseong garbage mountain issue, and campaigns promoting the shared use of tumblers and mugs.
Moreover, YIDO has conducted various social contribution activities including fully sponsored CLUBD dream tree social contributions, donations to First Tee for golf dreamers, the ‘Hand in Hand’ campaign supporting social economy enterprises, and participation in the ‘Children’s Traffic Safety Relay Challenge.’
Choi Jung-hoon, CEO of YIDO, stated, “Our company is a rapidly growing eco-friendly business with the vision of improving the quality of human life. We will actively practice ESG management through diverse social contributions and business operations that enable win-win outcomes with our surroundings.”
