Hanjin Provides Smart Solutions Through Parcel and Logistics IT System Upgrade

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hanjin announced on the 28th that it has completed the upgrade of its courier and logistics IT systems to respond to the rapidly changing courier and logistics environment.

Hanjin upgraded its courier information system, ‘Focus System,’ which has provided web solutions to corporate customers in the courier business, to the ‘Next-Generation Mobile Focus System.’ The main features of the upgrade include development of a mobile version to accommodate the diversification of work electronic devices such as smartphones and tablet PCs, and the establishment of an environment where the system can be used identically across any web browser environment such as Chrome and Explorer, enhancing customer work convenience.

Previously, the systems for corporate customers and the one-click courier service system for small-scale customers such as solo entrepreneurs and startups were operated separately, but now they have been integrated to improve customer management efficiency.

In particular, the ‘Next-Generation Mobile Focus System’ offers differentiated functions such as picking & packing lists, tax invoice issuance requests, and customer service complaint reception and result confirmation. Going forward, Hanjin plans to continuously improve the system by regularly checking customer feedback and requests, and create synergy by linking with platforms it owns, such as ‘Digital Easy Order,’ launched to support local small business owners’ entry into online sales.

Along with the courier IT system ‘Next-Generation Mobile Focus System,’ the logistics transportation management system TMS was also upgraded to an ‘Integrated TMS’ by consolidating previously separated systems by major cargo types and linking with a mobile-based real-time vehicle control system. The main upgrade features of the ‘Integrated TMS’ include the integration of previously dispersed transportation management systems by cargo type to enable consistent work processing. By linking with the Customs Service and Cargo Information Network, the existing eight-step process was reduced to four steps, improving work convenience.

Convenience was enhanced by introducing a simple electronic contract that allows drivers to complete contracts after mobile identity verification, while customers can check real-time vehicle location information, transportation status, and performance on PCs, tablets, and mobile devices, improving visibility of cargo transportation data.

In the future, Hanjin plans to further strengthen data analysis systems and mobile support services utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

A Hanjin official said, “Through the introduction of next-generation systems, we will flexibly respond to changes in the logistics market environment by quickly and accurately utilizing the continuously increasing courier and logistics-related data, invest in the IT sector, and lead the logistics industry as a company providing smart solutions.”
