Gori Nuclear Power Plant.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters attempted to hold a public hearing on the draft environmental impact assessment report for the continued operation of Gori Unit 2 on the 25th to gather residents' opinions from five districts of Busan, but it was canceled due to opposition from local environmental groups.
The hearing was scheduled to start at 2 p.m., but from 12 p.m., local environmental groups occupied the stage of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry auditorium, the venue of the hearing, blocking the event.
During this process, residents from five districts of Busan?Dongnae-gu, Yeonje-gu, Buk-gu, Busanjin-gu, and Dong-gu?who demanded the proper progress of the hearing, protested against the obstruction of the hearing.
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power judged that it was impossible to proceed with the hearing normally as the stage occupation continued until 3 p.m., well past the scheduled start time, and thus ended the hearing. They plan to hold a second hearing in consultation with the relevant local governments in the future.
