[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Lee Jun-hyung] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has activated an 'Emergency Response Team' in response to the Cargo Solidarity Union strike.

The ministry announced on the 24th that it formed the Emergency Response Team as the Cargo Solidarity Union began a collective transportation refusal. Vice Minister Jang Young-jin of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy was appointed as the head of the Emergency Response Team. On the first day of the Cargo Solidarity Union strike, the 24th, the Emergency Response Team held its first meeting to inspect damages and response situations in major industries such as steel, automobiles, and shipbuilding, and to discuss measures to minimize damage.

The Emergency Response Team focused on checking the response status by major industry sectors during its first meeting. Specifically, the team inspected early shipment of produced products, expansion of storage space inside and outside factories, and securing alternative transportation means. Additionally, the team's industry-specific impact assessment confirmed that major companies in the cement and steel sectors experienced shipment disruptions. In particular, the Emergency Response Team noted that in the cement industry, the loading capacity of final demand points such as ready-mixed concrete is usually limited to within two days, so damages at construction sites are expected to become visible in a short period.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to monitor the situation by industry related to the Cargo Solidarity Union strike daily, centered on the Emergency Response Team. Vice Minister Jang said, "We must check in real time the difficulties raised at industrial sites to minimize damage caused by the transportation refusal," and added, "Please respond with full force so that necessary support can be provided promptly and swiftly."
