Cumulative Sales of 59,532 Units Until November
Solid Fundamentals, Practicality, and Marketability
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Volkswagen's flagship sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Tiguan, is approaching the milestone of 60,000 units sold since its domestic debut in July 2008. Returning to the Korean market last July with the second-generation facelift model, the Volkswagen Tiguan boasts solid fundamentals, practicality, product appeal, a reasonable purchase price, and low total ownership costs, establishing itself as an irreplaceable and powerful contender in the imported SUV segment.
According to Volkswagen Korea on the 25th, the Tiguan has recorded cumulative domestic sales of 59,532 units through November this year since its initial launch. Maintaining steady monthly sales of about 270 units this year, it is expected to surpass the 60,000 sales mark within the year. It is also anticipated to retain its crown as the top imported SUV this year.
Especially as the year-end approaches, despite the ongoing delivery delays in the automotive industry, the Tiguan has reportedly secured a stable supply of vehicles, enhancing its competitiveness. As customers seeking quick new car delivery increasingly choose the Tiguan as a top option, it is expected to further solidify its position as the king of imported SUVs.
The Tiguan is equipped with the next-generation EA288 evo engine featuring innovative ‘Twin Dosing Technology,’ reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by approximately 80% compared to previous generation engines, meeting the stringent Euro 6d emission standards. The Tiguan combines a proven 2.0 TDI engine with a 7-speed DSG transmission, delivering dynamic performance with a maximum output of 150 horsepower (3000?4200 rpm) and peak torque of 36.7 kg·m.
The exterior of the second-generation facelift Tiguan enhances the existing modernity unique to the Tiguan by incorporating Volkswagen’s new SUV design identity, elevating the design’s completeness. Inside, it continues Volkswagen’s interior design innovation with a new design layout that strengthens user convenience alongside a digitized infotainment system.
Despite its high product appeal among imported SUVs in Korea, the Tiguan is offered at a reasonable price in the 40 million KRW range. Prices are 40,672,000 KRW for the 2.0 TDI Premium, 43,127,000 KRW for the 2.0 TDI 4Motion Premium, 44,501,000 KRW for the 2.0 TDI Prestige, and 47,053,000 KRW for the 2.0 TDI 4Motion Prestige.
Additionally, through Volkswagen Financial Services, a limited November promotion offers the Tiguan 2.0 TDI Premium model with a ‘Guaranteed Residual Value Installment Financing’ program that lowers customers’ monthly payments to the low 310,000 KRW range, along with an interest-free ‘Standard Installment Financing’ program.
