[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Jo Joo-bin (27, male), who was sentenced to 42 years in prison for producing child sexual exploitation materials and distributing them on the Telegram 'Baksa-bang,' has been additionally indicted for another sexual exploitation crime and was sentenced to 4 months in prison in the first trial.
On the 24th, Judge Lee Kyung-rin of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 22 sentenced Jo Joo-bin to 4 months in prison on charges of forcible molestation. He was also ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and was banned from working in child and disability-related institutions for 3 years. Co-defendant Kang Hoon (21), known as 'Bbootta,' who denied the charges claiming he "did not conspire with Jo Joo-bin," was also sentenced to 4 months in prison.
The judge stated regarding Jo Joo-bin, "Considering the brutality of the crime method and the seriousness of the consequences, appropriate punishment is necessary. However, since he has already been sentenced to 42 years in prison for organizing a criminal group and other charges, and has been punished separately for the victims in this case, these factors must be taken into account."
Jo Joo-bin and Kang Hoon were prosecuted for threatening three female victims in 2019 to take nude photos and sending them, charges of forcible molestation.
Previously, Jo Joo-bin was confirmed by the Supreme Court in October last year to have been sentenced to 42 years in prison for threatening dozens of female victims, including children and adolescents, from May 2019 to February 2020, producing sexual exploitation materials, and selling and distributing them through 'Baksa-bang' (violations of the Child and Youth Protection Act, forcible molestation, fraud, etc.).
Jo Joo-bin is currently also indicted on charges including violation of the Youth Protection Act (rape) and is undergoing a first trial at the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 31 (presided over by Chief Judge Lee Joong-min). This involves allegations of raping a victim who was a youth in 2019 and producing sexual exploitation videos, in addition to the previously known victims.
