[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] LS ELECTRIC announced on the 23rd that it donated 5 million KRW for kimchi-making support to the Anyang Senior Welfare Center in Gyeonggi Province.
LS ELECTRIC stated that along with the donation delivery the previous day, it held the "LS ELECTRIC Love Kimchi Sharing Event." The donation was raised through the LS ELECTRIC Chamsarang999 Fund. Chamsarang999 is money collected voluntarily by LS ELECTRIC employees by rounding down amounts under 1,000 KRW. The donations are used for low-income patients' medical expenses, childcare and educational support for children in single-parent families, and other marginalized neighbors through social welfare organizations such as Good Neighbors.
An LS ELECTRIC official said, "We organized the kimchi sharing event by collecting employee donations to help our neighbors in need prepare for a warm winter, even if just a little." He added, "We plan to fulfill our corporate social responsibility by preparing various programs for employees to practice sharing in the future."
Since 2014, LS ELECTRIC has been implementing customized support programs for each season and social class, such as delivering winter clothing to low-income marginalized groups in each business area, gifting holiday lunch boxes during Chuseok, and donating cooling supplies in summer and heating supplies in winter.
In cooperation with local communities and civic groups, LS ELECTRIC runs year-round social contribution campaigns such as "Let's Make Green with LS ELECTRIC," an urban ecological preservation and environmental problem-solving activity, and "Let's Start Together with LS ELECTRIC," a children's sponsorship program.
