[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] The Korea Communications Commission announced on the 22nd that it has appointed members of the 8th Universal Viewing Rights Guarantee Committee and held its first meeting.
The Universal Viewing Rights Guarantee Committee is a statutory committee established under Article 76-2 of the Broadcasting Act. It performs duties such as selecting events of public interest and recommending sequential broadcasting schedules for relay broadcasts.
The committee consists of seven experts with extensive expertise and experience in broadcasting, culture, law, viewers, and sports fields. The term of office is two years, until October 7, 2024.
The chairperson is Ahn Hyung-hwan, Vice Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, and the members include Shim Mi-seon, Professor of Media Communication at Soonchunhyang University; Lee Young-joo, Professor at the Graduate School of IT Policy, Seoul National University of Science and Technology; Lee Ha-yu, Professor of Media Creation at Seoul Arts College; Kim Tae-oh, Professor of Law at Changwon University; Jung Ji-yeon, Secretary General of the Korea Consumer Federation; and Han Sang-ho, Professor at Kyedang Education Institute, Sangmyung University.
