[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] LG CNS is focusing on nurturing future digital transformation (DX) experts.
LG CNS announced on the 22nd that it held the ‘AI Genius Academy Challenge Day’ and awarded students who proposed outstanding artificial intelligence (AI) ideas.
The ‘AI Genius Academy’ is LG CNS’s career design-oriented social contribution program. It is a separate program from ‘AI Genius,’ which is operated for middle school students. It targets high school students and provides AI, big data, coding education, and career lectures by experts over one year.
The recently held ‘Challenge Day’ is the final stage of the AI Genius Academy. It shared the final results of AI projects by participating youths and awarded excellent works. Among the total 78 teams participating in the AI Genius Academy, 10 teams with outstanding achievements were selected for this Challenge Day. LG CNS comprehensively evaluated the final deliverables, presentations, and one year of participation of the 10 teams to select one team each for the Grand Prize, Excellence Award, Merit Award, and ESG Award.
The Grand Prize was awarded to the ‘Infotherapy Team’ from Cheonan Wolbong High School, which developed the ‘AI Smart Delivery System.’ The smart delivery system introduced by this team automatically sorts packages by region by having AI read QR codes attached to packages without waybills, and AI searches for the shortest route to deliver to the delivery driver. This system prevents personal information leakage risks and improves the work efficiency of delivery workers.
The Excellence Award went to the ‘Ingwahyoung Team’ from Incheon Science Arts Gifted School, which presented the ‘Watermelon Ripeness Detector Using Sound Waves,’ and the Merit Award was given to the ‘Slaves of Coding Machine’ team from Mirae Industrial Science High School, which created the ‘AI Smart Parking System.’
LG CNS expanded the number of beneficiaries of the ‘AI Genius Academy’ from about 90 people (10 teams) last year to about 350 people (78 teams) this year, a fourfold increase. This year’s AI Genius Academy was conducted in four stages: ▲ AI Open Class ▲ Bootcamp ▲ Advanced Project ▲ Challenge Day.
LG CNS is carrying out various DX social contribution activities utilizing technical expertise, such as ‘AI Genius,’ which provides free AI education during regular middle school classes, and ‘Digital Coding Nonghwal,’ where LG CNS employees in their second year visit local elementary schools to volunteer coding education. Since 2017, LG CNS has provided IT education opportunities to about 185 schools and over 16,000 students.
