Seongbuk-gu to Operate 2022 'One-Day On-Site District Office' from October 27 to November 16... Continuing Resident Voice Listening for the Region in the 8th Term Following the 7th Term... 327 Resident Proposal Discussions to Identify and Solve Local Issues On-Site
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, who has continued communication administration centered on the field and people, concluded the grand journey of the ‘One-day Field Mayor’s Office’ from October 27 to November 16.
The ‘Field Mayor’s Office’ is a campaign project of Mayor Lee Seung-ro, established with the purpose of directly listening to residents’ proposals and advice for the region and jointly seeking solutions. It has been a key project operated since the beginning of the 7th local government term in 2018.
The 2022 One-day Field Mayor’s Office started on October 27 in Seongbuk-dong and ended on November 16 in Seokgwan-dong, held in all 20 neighborhoods. A total of about 3,500 people, including residents of each neighborhood, resident representatives, the mayor, members of the National Assembly, and city and district council members, gathered to listen to each other’s opinions and find solutions together for residents’ proposals and civil complaints.
In addition to 141 resident proposals pre-submitted during September, 186 resident proposals spontaneously suggested through ‘immediate Q&A’ on site were also addressed with questions and answers. As it was the first large-scale resident forum held since COVID-19, passionate discussions continued late into the evening due to residents’ high interest in local issues.
Also, in this Field Mayor’s Office, anyone interested was able to participate without location restrictions by watching the site and engaging in real-time chat through Seongbuk-gu Office’s official YouTube channel ‘SeongbukTV,’ which broadcasted the event live to encourage more resident participation. As of November 17, it recorded 21,087 views, showing the high level of interest from the residents.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “This Field Mayor’s Office was a valuable opportunity to re-examine parts of our administration’s blind spots in local government issues from the residents’ perspective.” He added, “The residents’ opinions sent for Seongbuk-gu will be carefully reviewed by the relevant departments, and we will actively consult with local district, city, and National Assembly members to reflect them in making Seongbuk a better place to live.”
