[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Winter clothing sales have increased due to the cold weather. As the first year-end since the endemic (periodic outbreak of infectious diseases), outings have become more active, making short-length outerwear that is stylish and comfortable to wear popular. Boots that go well with these outfits have also seen increased sales.
Gmarket announced on the 18th that winter clothing sales growth over the past month (October 12 to November 13) rose overall compared to the same period last year. Sales of branded women's clothing increased by 78%. Sales of coats, a representative winter fashion item, rose by 56%, with half coats (43%) and fur/mink coats (60%) selling well. Sales of mustang and leather jackets, which offer both style and warmth, as well as fur vests, increased by 75% and 45%, respectively. Windbreakers, zip-ups, and padded/down jumpers, which are comfortable to wear, increased by 100%, 98%, and 45%, respectively. Vests and padded vests, which can be matched inside outerwear to provide both warmth and style, also saw a 90% increase in demand.
Sales of general women's clothing also rose by 80%, with jackets, coats, and padding (136%) selling particularly well. There was also strong demand for short and comfortable outerwear such as safari and field jumpers (67%) and hooded zip-up jumpers (50%).
Men's clothing sales also increased by 72%. Cardigans, knits, and vests rose by 124%, and leather jackets and mustangs increased by 116%. Hooded and zip-up jumpers rose by 53%, while padded jumpers and windbreaker jumpers increased by 60% and 80%, respectively. Blousons and flight jumpers, which enhance fashion, showed a growth of more than three times (233%), and coats rose by 68%. Branded men's clothing nearly doubled (95%), with significant increases in sales of wool jackets (345%), polar knits (177%), and padded/down coats (112%).
Meanwhile, boots that go well with outerwear are also in high demand. During the same period, women's boots and walkers nearly doubled (96%), with long boots increasing by 86% and ankle boots by 75%. Booties that cover the instep increased more than fourfold (345%). Walker heels and flat walkers each rose by 73%, and warm fur boots and padded boots increased by 86% and 41%, respectively. A Gmarket official said, "Fashion demand for winter outing clothes has increased significantly overall as the year-end approaches. In particular, short-length outerwear such as short padding, half coats, and jumpers have become a trend, leading to a sharp rise in sales of various boots."
