Gyeonggi-do to Hold 'K-Future Car' Policy Development Forum in Gwanggyo on the 18th

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will hold an expert forum to discover policies related to the creation of the 'K-Miraecha Valley'.

On the 18th, Gyeonggi Province announced on the 17th that it will hold an expert forum in the conference room of the Next-Generation Convergence Technology Institute in Gwanggyo Technovalley, Yeongtong, Suwon, to discover policy tasks related to the promotion of the 'K-Miraecha Valley' project linking major automobile parts company clusters in the province with Pangyo Technovalley.

Hosted by the Gyeonggi Autonomous Driving Center of the Next-Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute and organized by Gyeonggi Province, the forum will discuss policy directions for creating the K-Miraecha innovation ecosystem and establishing response strategies.

The chairperson of the forum is Choi Jeong-dan, head of the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and an expert in autonomous driving research.

Following this, Lee Hang-gu, a research fellow at the Korea Automotive Technology Institute, will deliver a keynote speech on 'The Current State of Gyeonggi Province's Future Car Transition.' Kang-won Lee, vice president of Namyang Nexmo, an auto parts company based in Ansan, will introduce successful cases of internal combustion engine vehicle transition based on field experience under the theme 'Response Strategies for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises' Future Car Transition.' Hyundai Motor Company's Autonomous Driving Division will also present on 'The Present and Future of Autonomous Driving Demonstration in Gyeonggi Province.'

After the presentations, local governments promoting future car-related work, presenters, and experts from Gyeonggi Province's K-Miraecha dedicated task force (TF) will exchange ideas on future food production, including Gyeonggi Province's future car response and policy task discovery, through a Q&A session.

The province is establishing a Gyeonggi-type future car governance for the creation of the K-Miraecha Valley together with local governments such as Seongnam, Hwaseong, Ansan, and Siheung, which are promoting future car projects.

In particular, it plans to build an innovative ecosystem for the future car valley by linking the 'West Coast Parts Industry (Electrification) Belt,' centered on the automobile parts company clusters in the southwestern region of the province including Bucheon-Gwangmyeong-Siheung-Ansan (hub)-Hwaseong-Pyeongtaek, with the 'Southern Autonomous Driving Technology Company Cluster' including Seongnam Pangyo Technovalley (hub)-Hwaseong-Siheung-Anyang-Gimpo.

The province plans to reflect the suggestions and discussion contents discovered at the forum in the smart mobility policy research project.

Ryu Gwang-yeol, director of the Gyeonggi Province Economic Office, emphasized, "This forum is meaningful in that Gyeonggi Province, local governments, and experts, who have set 'Fostering Future Cars, Semiconductors, and Bio Industries' as core pledges of the 8th term of the elected government, are putting their heads together to foster future car-related industries." He added, "We will focus on the future car transition of Gyeonggi Province's parts companies and the cultivation of strong small and medium-sized material and parts companies to establish and lead an innovative ecosystem related to future cars."
