[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 18th, Yusangbeom, a member of the People Power Party, announced on the 17th that he will hold a legislative forum with the Ministry of Government Legislation on 'Unification of Age Calculation by Full Age' and 'Social Settlement Measures.'
The forum was organized to address social and administrative disputes and conflicts caused by the coexistence of different age calculation methods such as full age, year age, and counting age, and to seek ways to unify the age standard.
The unification of full age was selected as a key task of the 20th Presidential Transition Committee under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, and the related law was also submitted to the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee as a bill proposed by Representative Yusangbeom, who served as a member of the transition committee at the time.
Representative Yusangbeom stated, "Since this system brings significant changes to long-standing customs and culture, we will also explore various measures for its smooth settlement."
