KT Commercializes AI Monitoring System 'Dr.Genie' for Broadcasting Platforms

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] KT announced on the 17th that it has developed and commercialized 'Dr. Genie,' an AI-based IPTV live broadcasting platform monitoring system.

Dr. Genie collects and monitors big data generated in real-time from encoder equipment that receives broadcast signals from Program Providers (PP) as well as transmission network segments. When it detects abnormal signs, it analyzes the cause and notifies users via voice. It also provides reports on the cause of failures and corrective actions to help prevent similar issues from recurring.

Previously, each broadcasting device and transmission segment was monitored directly through network management systems, requiring manual checking of hundreds of screens to identify the location and cause of failures, which was cumbersome.

KT has applied Dr. Genie at the KT Group Media Center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, automatically monitoring the IPTV broadcasting platform responsible for the real-time transmission of about 370 Genie TV video channels and 30 audio channels.

Lee Jong-sik, Head of the Infrastructure DX Research Lab at KT Convergence Technology Institute, said, "We plan to expand the application of Dr. Genie to KT's media group companies and introduce it to the global market."
