[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] NH Nonghyup Financial Group is promoting ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management company-wide.
On the 17th, NH Nonghyup Financial Group announced that it held the 'Social Value and Green Finance Council,' chaired by the Group Chairman, the previous day. This council is the group's highest-level meeting body to discuss ESG management strategies and progress.
ESG officers from the holding company and affiliates participated to discuss ▲ the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) implementation enhancement project ▲ publication of the ESG management report ▲ and the 2023 Nonghyup Financial ESG promotion plan.
Regarding the TCFD implementation enhancement project, Nonghyup Financial has completed ▲ measuring carbon emissions of asset portfolios and setting reduction targets ▲ establishing a strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 ▲ and building a climate risk management system.
The ESG management report is scheduled for publication next month, and the '2023 ESG Promotion Plan' is reviewing the current status of Nonghyup Financial focusing on ‘carbon neutrality strategy implementation’ and ‘expansion of agriculture and rural specialized ESG finance promotion,’ while discussing future plans.
Son Byunghwan, Chairman of NH Nonghyup Financial Group, said, "ESG management, especially supporting the achievement of carbon neutrality in rural areas, is a specialized field that only Nonghyup Financial can pursue, and all employees will unite their wisdom and strength to promote it." He added, "Through the development of products and services that embody the ESG values and activities pursued by Nonghyup Financial, we must foster customer consensus and induce change, which will in turn create a virtuous cycle leading to a shift in employees' work awareness."
