As Part of the 30th Anniversary Event of Korea-China Diplomatic Relations

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kumho Tire announced on the 17th that Xing Haiming, the Chinese Ambassador to Korea, visited Kumho Tire's Central Research Institute located in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
This visit was made at the request of the Chinese Embassy as part of the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations to improve relations and maintain networks between Korea and China. The day before, Ambassador Xing Haiming, who visited together with Chung Manki, Vice Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association, Guo Jinsheng, Chinese Economic Counselor, and Kim Hyuncheol, Head of the Trade Association Headquarters, was guided by Chung Iltaek, CEO of Kumho Tire, and the company's executives and staff.
CEO Chung guided the Kumho Tire Yongin Research Institute's exhibition hall and laboratories, explaining the excellence of Kumho Tire products and the production process of key premium products.
In particular, Kumho Tire's electric vehicle tires, the 'Majesty9 SOLUS TA91 EV' and 'Crugen HP71 EV,' attracted attention. Both products are electric vehicle tires specialized for EVs, designed not only to improve fuel efficiency according to the characteristics of electric vehicles but also to consider driving performance and ride comfort, perfectly realizing the performance of high-output electric vehicles.
The Kumho Tire Central Research Institute, opened in September 2013 in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, serves as a hub that integrates and manages the research and development and advanced technologies of Kumho Tire's scattered domestic and overseas research centers. More than 600 specialized researchers at home and abroad conduct the development of high value-added new products leading the future global market, as well as core tire technologies and basic research.
Ambassador Xing said, “The K-Silent (sound absorption technology) applied to Kumho Tire's electric vehicle tires will be a leading technology in the tire industry suitable for the future mobility era,” adding, “I hope Kumho Tire will lead the tire market in China as well with its excellent quality and high brand awareness.”
Vice Chairman Chung stated, "The demand for electric vehicle tires showed significant growth even during the pandemic and is a promising product," and added, "I hope the newly introduced premium technology will remain a successful model of Korea-China joint ventures in the future global tire market."
CEO Chung said, “This is an opportunity to showcase the Central Research Institute, the source of Kumho Tire's technological capabilities and a symbol of innovation,” and added, “Kumho Tire will continuously strengthen its R&D capabilities and lead the global tire market.”
