[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will conduct a public participation event for the "Naeryeojuse~young" campaign, which asks people to refrain from non-emergency calls, from the 17th of this month to the 16th of next month to foster a mature 119 reporting culture.
The "Naeryeojuse~young" campaign encourages people to refrain from calling 119 unless it is an emergency and to report to the government civil complaint call center "110" instead.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters explained that the campaign's meaning includes a dual message: to lower your finger from the number 9 button on the phone keypad down to the 0 button to report, and to hang up the phone for non-emergency calls.
This public participation event, held in celebration of the 75th Fire Prevention Emphasis Month, allows participants to film challenge videos by referring to the "Naeryeojuse~young" participation gestures and lines on the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters website or social networking services (SNS), then post them on personal SNS accounts such as YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram. Afterwards, participants can enter their name, contact information, and the link to the uploaded video on the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters website or SNS account to apply.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters will draw 30 participants on the 19th of next month and award them with designer fire extinguishers and tumblers.
Hong Jang-pyo, the Safety Officer of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, stated, "Since the first half of this year, we have been vigorously promoting the 'Naeryeojuse~young' campaign asking people to refrain from non-emergency calls, and in celebration of Fire Prevention Emphasis Month, we have launched this event targeting the public."
