New York Cultural Center Partners with CJ... Jazz Performance in Manhattan Next Month

[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Seulgina Cho] The Korean Cultural Center New York announced on the 16th (local time) that it has signed a partnership with the CJ Cultural Foundation to discover talented Korean-American next-generation performing artists active in New York, USA, and support their advancement onto the international stage through the "Young Korean Artists Series."


Accordingly, the first performance will be held on December 3rd at 7:30 PM at The Times Center located in Manhattan, featuring a jazz big band concert by the Ji-hye Lee Orchestra. The Ji-hye Lee Orchestra is a jazz orchestra composed of 18 members, including wind instruments such as saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, as well as piano, guitar, and percussion. In this performance, they will present newly arranged jazz-style versions of Korean folk songs such as "Saetaryeong" and "Arirang." Ji-hye Lee, who leads the orchestra, is a composer and arranger who won the Best Jazz Album at the 19th Korean Popular Music Awards and is a talented artist who emerged from the CJ Music Scholarship program.


A representative from the Korean Cultural Center New York stated, "At a time when the influence of Korean culture in New York is increasing, we are very pleased to establish a platform through the partnership with the CJ Cultural Foundation that allows emerging Korean artists gaining attention in the local performing arts scene to pursue even greater dreams." A CJ Cultural Foundation representative also said, "We will continue to collaborate with the Korean Cultural Center New York to support Korean artists in various genres to actively expand their activities on mainstream stages."
