Seocho District Council Opens 322nd 2nd Regular Session... 28-Day Schedule Until December 12 for Administrative Audit and 2023 Budget Review

O Se-cheol, Chairman of Seocho District Council, "We Must Seriously Consider People's Livelihoods"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Seocho District Council (Chairman Oh Se-cheol) held the 322nd 2nd regular session on the 15th, proceeding with a 28-day schedule until December 12.


This regular session will include the 2022 administrative audit, district administration questions, and the review of the 2023 revenue and expenditure budget and fund operation plan.


At the plenary session held on the 15th, Chairman Oh Se-cheol gave the opening remarks, followed by District Mayor Jeon Seong-su’s administrative address and the proposal explanation regarding the 2023 revenue and expenditure budget.


Additionally, there were 5-minute free speeches by Councilmembers Park Jae-hyung and Kim Seong-ju during the meeting.


First, Councilmember Park Jae-hyung pointed out issues in the appointment process of the Ombudsman, requesting a thorough review to ensure that the Ombudsman, who monitors district administration, is composed fairly and reasonably. Then, Councilmember Kim Seong-ju highlighted problems in the management of Seocho District’s private consignment operations and urged the preparation of innovative improvement measures to ensure efficient management and objective evaluation of projects under private consignment.


Other matters handled included ▲requests for attendance by the district mayor and related officials ▲consent for funding the Seocho Cultural Foundation ▲partial amendment of the ordinance on licensing standards for the Seocho District liquefied petroleum gas business ▲partial amendment of the Seoul Metropolitan City Seocho District fee collection ordinance ▲partial amendment of the Seoul Metropolitan City Seocho District address information ordinance ▲partial amendment of the Seoul Metropolitan City Seocho District dementia relief center establishment and operation ordinance, among others.


Chairman Oh Se-cheol emphasized in his opening remarks, “This regular session is an important meeting to wrap up the year with administrative audits, district administration questions, and the review of the 2023 budget, while preparing for a new leap forward for Seocho.” He added, “Especially amid the turbulent economic crisis, the role of finance is even more crucial.” He continued, “I hope all council members unite as the Seocho Party, put their heads together, and intensely contemplate the livelihood issues.”


Meanwhile, the Seocho District Council will conduct administrative audits from the 16th to the 22nd, review the 2023 revenue and expenditure budget by standing committees from the 25th to the 30th, and then finalize the 2023 budget at the 4th plenary session on December 12 after the budget and accounts committee’s review based on the standing committees’ results from December 6 to 9.
