Suspension of Sales for Products Damaging Tags, Labels, and Barcodes That Hinder Consumers' Rational Choice
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Musinsa is significantly strengthening the product inspection standards for parallel import vendors listed on its store. Musinsa has decided to suspend sales of products supplied by parallel import vendors that do not meet the inspection standards, prioritizing consumer rights protection even if it impacts transaction volume immediately.
According to Musinsa on the 16th, the inspection standards have been raised in two major aspects. First, an additional procedure has been added to verify the authenticity of products that parallel import vendors intend to sell on Musinsa's platform. Besides the import declaration certificate proving the import process, parallel import vendors must also submit official authenticity certification documents provided by the brand headquarters or the brand's official certified partners to prove the product is genuine.
At the same time, an inspection of labeling information is conducted for all products that parallel import vendors plan to sell through Musinsa's service. This includes verifying that tags, care labels, and other consumer-required information attached to the products are not damaged or altered.
A Musinsa representative stated, “Until now, we have supported product sales only for parallel import vendors who passed the entry screening to introduce consumers to various categories of brands and luxury goods. We will strengthen consumer trust by enhancing the authenticity inspection process across Musinsa's services, including conducting thorough inspections of parallel import products sold on Musinsa Store, 29CM, and Lazy Night.”
