High Adhesion, High Elasticity, High Water Repellent Coating Formation, Protection of Reinforced Concrete Structures from External Environment
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] KCC has launched 'Supuro Prime Shield,' a high-performance exterior water-based paint that helps extend the lifespan of buildings simply by applying it.
Concrete contains calcium hydroxide, which gives it a strong alkaline nature. When it reacts with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, it loses its alkalinity and becomes neutralized, accelerating the corrosion of steel. Ultimately, the expansion pressure caused by the corrosion of rebar leads to cracks in the concrete. To extend the lifespan of buildings, it is essential to protect reinforced concrete structures from external environments and maintain durability.
Supuro Prime Shield is a water-based paint using water-soluble silicone-modified acrylic resin that forms a thin, strong, and highly weather-resistant protective film on concrete, preventing reactions with carbon dioxide. Additionally, its highly elastic coating protects against fine cracks on exterior walls, and its excellent water repellency suppresses moisture penetration, preventing concrete neutralization and extending the building's lifespan. It also has fire-resistant certification for enhanced safety, and an anti-mold function that suppresses mold growth on exterior walls caused by high temperature and humidity during summer.
A KCC representative stated, "The durability of concrete is closely related to the lifespan of buildings, and Supuro Prime Shield will serve as an auxiliary material for long-lasting buildings," adding, "It can prevent aging of concrete buildings including apartments, promote efficient use of construction resources, and contribute to ESG management by reducing construction waste and carbon emissions."
