Geochang-gun Holds Final Report Meeting on Master Plan for Gamaksan and Ahopsan Areas Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam held the final report meeting for the Gamaksan-Ahopsan area master plan.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 10th, Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held the final report meeting for the ‘Gamaksan, Geonheungsan, and Ahopsan Area Stay-type Forest Recreation Tourism Master Plan Establishment Project’ at the county office situation room, attended by County Governor Goo In-mo, Shin Jae-hwa, Chairman of the Industrial Construction Committee of the County Council, and related officials.

This project aims to discover future growth businesses utilizing Geochang-gun’s forest resources. It started in December last year, held a kickoff report meeting in March this year, went through two interim report meetings in August and September, and is scheduled to be completed in November.

At the meeting, the projects proposed in previous meetings were concretized, presenting and explaining plans and projects for the development of Geochang-gun’s forest recreation tourism in the Gamaksan area and the Geonheungsan and Ahopsan areas.

The county set the vision of the master plan as ‘The Era of One Million Forest Recreation Tourists! Geochang Where People and the Wind Stay,’ and announced plans for each area aiming to create spaces for recreation, scenery, healing, and leisure sports in the Gamaksan and Ahopsan areas.

The main plans for each area include eco-friendly measures utilizing the surrounding scenery in the Gamaksan area, such as creating healing forests, forest campgrounds, and forest cultivation projects.

Additionally, the Geonheungsan and Ahopsan areas’ plans consist of creating forest trails incorporating storytelling based on local village legends, connecting hiking trails, landscape development, and tourism product development.

Based on the master plan project results, the county intends to conduct feasibility evaluations for creating healing forests and proceed with administrative procedures such as district designation to transform the area into a stay-type tourist destination.

Governor Goo said, “The master plan project, which has been underway since last year to discover future growth engines for our county, has been completed. We will do our best to utilize the forest recreation tourism master plan resulting from this project to open the era of one million tourists in Geochang-gun.”
