[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] As demand for overseas travel surges, Interpark's airline ticket sales exceeded 100 billion KRW in October this year.
On the 10th, Interpark announced that the airline ticket sales amount for the one month period from the 1st to the 31st of last month reached 107.7 billion KRW, a 233% increase compared to the same period last year.
Compared to October 2019, before the spread of COVID-19, airline ticket sales increased by 8%, showing a rapid recovery to pre-pandemic levels.
Online sales of international airline tickets in October increased by 735% compared to the same period last year and by 19% compared to October 2019. Domestic online airline ticket sales increased by 37% compared to the same period last year and by 14% compared to October 2019.
In response to the growing demand for airline tickets, Interpark is implementing the ‘Overseas Airline Ticket Lowest Price Guarantee Program.’ This program compensates 100% of the price difference if the purchased ticket within approximately three months from the 11th of last month to the end of the year is not the lowest price.
Since May, Interpark has been operating the ‘Mix Round-Trip Ticket’ reservation service, which allows customers to search and purchase tickets in one go even if the departure and return airlines are different. Additionally, benefits such as up to 20% discount by credit card company, a 15,000 KRW repurchase coupon, and up to 35% discount on overseas child fares are provided when purchasing overseas airline tickets.
Park Junghyun, Head of Interpark’s Airline Business Division, said, "We have proven our status as the number one airline ticket platform with results by recovering faster than competitors to pre-COVID-19 performance," and added, "We will continue to offer high-quality products and services as before the pandemic."
