60s Captain Missing from Saryangdo Island Found Dead

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the night of the 8th, a missing captain in his 60s was found dead near Chudo, off the east coast of Saryangdo, Tongyeong-si, Gyeongnam.

According to Sacheon Coast Guard, at around 4:15 PM on the 9th, a passenger ship reported spotting the missing person 1.7 nautical miles east of Chudo, Tongyeong-si.

The Sacheon Coast Guard rescue team and Tongyeong Coast Guard patrol vessels conducted a search near the location reported by the passenger ship and found the missing person deceased.

The rescue team recovered the missing person and transferred him to Samdeok Port in Tongyeong-si, then handed him over to the Tongyeong Coast Guard.

A Sacheon Coast Guard official said, "We are heartbroken that we could not rescue him safely," and added, "When going out to sea, we hope that at least two people go together so that in case of an accident, help can be requested immediately."
